This happened to me with UPS. I went on holiday and told my gf to pick up the package with the delivery notice. When I came dorsum asking where the package was, she said there was never a commitment notice. I called UPS and they said 3 attempts have been fabricated with a discover left each time. Living in apartment building, I'm sure this happens a lot. The parcel wasn't returned to the original sender and when I called UPS asking where the package was, they just said it was too belatedly to be picked up and is destroyed. More like an employee takes it. The bundle was valued at $500

They usually give out some other 1, a warning, if the holding period is near to finish.

Hypothetically if you lose your delivery notice card, they agree the item at the retail outlet for 2 weeks, then they postal service out another card to you telling you the item is at that place for pick up. I remember then they hold it another calendar week or two, and then ship information technology render to sender.

Packages are ordinarily returned to the sender unless there was no return address. Where I used to work we had a problem with Purolator delivering to apartments. They would non leave a observe due to privacy reasons they claimed, so the recipient never knew a commitment was attempted and didn't get to option up the package. These packages were and so all returned to u.s.a. and we were charged for the return aircraft. I can't come across any legitimate commitment company not returning an item if they were unable to deliver unless of course at that place is no return address.
